In 2020, our parent association, the International Association for Dental Research (IADR) proudly celebrates its Centennial year of existence. Over these years, the IADR has nurtured the science and art of dentistry and allied sciences to perform high-quality research and produce evidence. Such advancements and discoveries had provided a valuable foundation for dental science, as we know it today. Even after 100 years, the body still works and studies the foundation of tomorrow's dental practice. In its 100 years of existence, it has seen several conflicts, emergences of non-communicable burden of diseases (NCD), the relationship of oral diseases with NCDs and the need for preventive dentistry.[1] The focus over the years has enlarged from curative sciences to preventive sciences.[2] In this aspect, many pioneers including the past IADR presidents have greatly contributed to the advancement in dental research.

On behalf of the ISDR members and its office bearers, I take this opportunity to wish the IADR leadership and the members of the IADR for successfully completing the 100 years of journey and starting a new journey. We are happy to be traveling together for more than 30 years as a member. On this momentous occasion, we are happy to work together now and the future in such a way that dentistry and ethical research will be promoted. The journey with IADR has enriched our way of approach, mutual recognition and participation. On this day, we pledge and rededicate ourselves to enrich dentistry and dental research.

As a developing populous country, we are burdened by dental diseases and NCD.[3] I sincerely believe that our dental community by working synchronously with IADR can mutually learn, enrich and deliver the best of oral care.
