It is my pleasure to meet all members of Indian dental research community once again. I thank all the members who had placed their trust in me and elected me to this coveted post of Editor-in-Chief of Indian Journal of Dental Research (IJDR). I understand the responsibility of this post, especially at a crucial juncture when the establishment and model of open access publishing, especially all those Indian biomedical journals, is under severe threat.

I wish to reiterate to bring more transparency and faster processing of manuscript. Very soon, IJDR will come out with a new editorial board, with national and international composition, whose only criteria will be scientific merit. All backlog articles will be published soon. New set of reviewers have been invited to lend their expertise in judging the quality of submissions. This would help to reduce the turn over time period of the manuscript submitted to IJDR. I shall try to promote the immediacy index as well as the impact factor of the journal. For this, I request all members of dental research community and especially the members of Indian Society for Dental Research (ISDR) to submit their contemporary research to IJDR.

With the assuming the post, my immediate goal will be to bring the journal as per schedule. I do understand that there could be some teethering problems, which I believe can be sorted out with the help of our publishers and the previous editorial team. I wish to congratulate the work done by Dr. Sivapathasundaram and all his team members who have done their job to the expectation of the ISDR. I request all members to enforce their organization/institutes to subscribe the IJDR so that our revenue of journal could be raised.

The recently promoted Students Training and Research Program (STAR) of our head office, International Association for Dental Research has also been released in India. Soon Indian Dental students will be exposed to facilities and teaching of great pioneers who will inspire, teach and train young dental students to be researchers of tomorrow. I hope to receive many student lead researches soon in IJDR. I am open to suggestion of the members and dental fraternity for the improvement of dental research in the subcontinent through IJDR and ISDR.
